The NBA Trade Deadline is just days away, and all signs are pointing to the very strong likelihood that Marc Gasol will be traded away from the Memphis Grizzlies.

Mike Conley opened up to Omari Sankofa of The Athletic about the potential of his long-time teammate Gasol being traded:

“Knowing what's possible after tonight, it's going to be hard for a lot of us, especially myself with all the years we've played together.”

Both players have spent their entire careers so far with the Memphis Grizzlies, with Conley in his 12th season and Gasol in his 11th.

The two players assuredly have many fond memories playing together, having been a part of seven playoff appearances in their time with Memphis, including a Western Conference Finals appearance in 2012-13.

They were two key components of the Grit and Grind era Grizzlies who, along with players like Zach Randolph and Tony Allen, strung together three straight 50-win seasons with their signature style of slow pace and unrelenting defense.

With that era coming to an end, Memphis announced just weeks ago they would be fielding calls for both Gasol and Conley prior to the trade deadline. Gasol has been linked to multiple teams, with the Charlotte Hornets seeming the most likely suitor, while a trade for Conley has been explored by the Utah Jazz, Toronto Raptors, and Detroit Pistons.

It will undoubtedly be tough for the two players who have practically spent their careers playing alongside one another to split apart and suit up for different franchises if Memphis is able to make a deal happen.

Hopefully though, they will look back on their time together fondly and enjoy the success they had as one of the iconic teams in an era of NBA basketball.
