The Utah Jazz and the Detroit Pistons are reportedly the two front runners to acquire Memphis Grizzlies point guard Mike Conley, according to James L. Edwards III of The Athletic.

The Grizzlies are looking to rebuild, so they have been taking trade calls on Conley and All-Star center Marc Gasol.

The Pistons have been trying to upgrade their point guard position and would love to replace Reggie Jackson with Conley, while the Jazz want to add a third dynamic player alongside shooting guard Donovan Mitchell and center Rudy Gobert.

According to a league source, as it stands now, the Pistons and the Jazz are the two front runners in the Conley Sweepstakes.

Edwards speculates the Pistons will have to offer Jackson, Jon Leuer and Luke Kennard to the Grizzlies to get Mike Conley. It is widely assumed the Jazz have a trade package of Ricky Rubio, a 2019 first-round pick and other players to match salary for Conley.

Conley, 31, is averaging 20.3 points, 3.4 rebounds and 6.3 assists per game this season. The lefty is making $30,521,115 this season and owed $32,511,623 next season.

The Pistons are currently 23-29 on the season, ninth place in the Eastern Conference standings. Conley is a superior player than Jackson in every aspect. A Big Three of Conley, Blake Griffin and Andre Drummond could do some damage together.

The Jazz, though, are heavily pursuing Conley and want him to be their floor general. Rubio doesn't really move the needle for them.

The NBA trade deadline is in two days, so buckle up.
