Miami Heat point guard Goran Dragic suffered a plantar fascia tear in Game 1 of the Finals against the Los Angeles Lakers and missed the next four contests.
While Dragic made a grand return in Game 6, he wasn't even close to 100 percent since the lefty didn't have enough time to rehab the tear in his foot.
After the Heat fell to the Lakers in six games, Dragic told reporters he won't require offseason surgery, so that is certainly good news for Miami.
“They told me when you snap the fascia, it's basically you did your own surgery. So from now on, just rest and it's gonna get better on their own,” Goran Dragic told Heat reporters, via ESPN.
“So I don't need to go to the doctor, no surgery, nothing. But like I said, the one thing that I didn't have was time, and it was tough.”
The Heat took the Lakers to six games without Dragic playing, so Miami may have been able to defeat LeBron James and Co. had the Dragon been 100 percent.
After all, Dragic was playing at an All-Star level before he got hurt. He averaged 20.9 points and 4.7 assists in the Eastern Conference playoffs against the Indiana Pacers, Milwaukee Bucks and Boston Celtics.
Dragic becomes an unrestricted free agent this offseason. While nothing is certain in the business of the NBA, all signs point toward the Heat re-signing Dragic since he has a great relationship with Jimmy Butler and Erik Spoelstra.
