Miami Heat center Hassan Whiteside underwent an MRI on his injured right knee Tuesday and results came back negative, according to the team. Whiteside is feeling better and is questionable for Wednesday's game against the San Antonio Spurs.

Whiteside played just 16 minutes in a loss to the Atlanta Hawks over the weekend and missed Monday's thrilling victory over the Detroit Pistons. Luckily, it appears this injury is nothing serious and he'll be back in the lineup soon, even if it's not agains the Spurs on Wednesday.

Whiteside's 2017-18 season was marred by injuries when he played just 54 games, and it ended on an especially down note when he saw his minutes plummet in the playoffs against the Philadelphia 76ers due to ineffectiveness. The 29-year-old voiced his discontent with his situation, which led to trade rumors after the Heat were eliminated in five games.

No trade came to fruition, though, and Hassan Whiteside smoothed things over with Heat coach Erik Spoelstra and president Pat Riley. The big man is trying to return to his 2016-17 form, and so far the results have been mixed.

While Whiteside's minutes are trending back upward, his scoring is down to 12.4 points per game on 48.1 percent shooting from the field. On a more positive note, he's pulling down a whopping 14.6 rebounds per contest and swatting 2.8 shots per game. Both marks rank in the top three in the NBA.

The Heat as a team have gotten off to a so-so start this season. Miami is 4-5 after the victory over Detroit.
