Jimmy Butler is one of the funniest players in the NBA. The Miami Heat star has had many hilarious moments on the mic, from the time he fell from a canoe to his fiery defense of country music. You can always count on Butler to give you a hilarious soundbite at any given moment.
Case in point: this interview he did after the Heat's 118 – 115 win over the Utah Jazz. When Butler was asked about his football background helping him in basketball, he gave this hilarious answer to the reporter. (via Reddit)
Article Continues Below“I got the bеst hands in the leaguе – for surе on this team. For surе. If you throw it up therе, it's like a 109, 108% chancе I'm going to catch it. Kylе [Lowry] doеs a grеat job of putting mе in that position. I think I'm a widе-recеiver at hеart.”
Everything about Jimmy's answer here is golden. First, the way he just says “Don't do that” when the reporter implies that he's more like a tight end, as if he's offended at the notion of not being a wide receiver. Second, the subtle, playful dig at his Heat teammates that fans have grown to love. And finally, look at how he mentions 109%, stops, then after a bit of contemplation, corrects it to 108.
You got to love Jimmy's candidness and hilarity when it comes to interviews like this. All credit to Butler, though: the Heat star does have some good route-running in him, as seen in this video below. However… it's not exactly NFL-level running, and that might hurt his chances of getting into the league.
Not that he'd want to leave the NBA, of course. Butler has been wildly successful in the NBA as a star, even leading the Heat to the Finals one year. Heat fans don't have to worry about their franchise star suddenly bolting for a wide receiver offer in the NFL.
