The Atlanta Hawks had a chance to extend the game and possibly win over the Miami Heat on Monday. All they had to do was foul with nine seconds remaining in the clock.
Unfortunately, the Hawks failed to do so. They weren't even close to a Heat player, as they struggled to catch the ball — thanks in large part to Miami's spacing.

Either way, it was a heartbreaking loss for the Hawks and a great victory for the Heat. Dwyane Wade and Co.have improved their chances at qualifying for the playoffs.
Article Continues BelowMiami now owns a 29-34 record, good for 10th place in the Eastern Conference and well within striking distance of the eighth and final playoff spot.
Dwyane Wade led all scorers with 23 points, as well as five assists and two rebounds. Josh Richardson dropped 19 points while Justise Winslow had 18 points. A total of five Heat players scored in double figures.
Now, Miami heads to North Carolina to play the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday.
The Hawks, meanwhile, got contributions from Vince Carter who led the team with 21 points. Kent Bazemore added 18 points and seven rebounds while Trae Young had 14 points and eight assists. They will next make a trip to Texas to face the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday.
