Superstar point guard Russell Westbrook is open to being traded by the Oklahoma City Thunder and has interest in playing for the Miami Heat, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

The Heat are interested in trading for Westbrook, who has four years remaining on his current deal.

In the aftermath of co-star Paul George's departure, Oklahoma City's Russell Westbrook welcomes the idea of general manager Sam Presti engineering a trade that would bring an end to his illustrious 11-year career with the franchise, league sources tell ESPN.

The Miami Heat have expressed interest, a potential destination that also appeals to Westbrook, league sources said.

Westbrook has averaged a triple-double three seasons in a row. This past season, the former MVP put up 22.9 points, 11.1 rebounds and 10.7 assists.

The Heat would become contenders in the Eastern Conference if they are able to add Westbrook. Miami acquired four-time All-Star Jimmy Butler in a sign-and-trade deal with the Philadelphia 76ers. Having Westbrook join Butler in South Beach would be a monumental move for the Heat.

Westbrook will make $38.51 million next season, $41.36 million in 2020-21, $44.21 million in 2021-22 and $47.06 million in 2022-23. Heat president Pat Riley loves to make big splashes and acquiring Butler and Westbrook in one summer would fit that bill.
