The Milwaukee Bucks dropped Game 2 of the NBA Finals to the Phoenix Suns despite a monstrous effort from Giannis Antetokounmpo, who had 42 points in a gutsy performance. Suddenly, the Bucks are down 2-0 as the series heads to Milwaukee, and the two-time MVP has played unbelievable well thus far.
With Game 3 scheduled for Sunday, Giannis had a strong message as the Bucks look to avoid a terrifying 3-0 deficit. According to Eric Nehm of The Athletic, they hope they can protect home court as well.
“I think no matter what we say, we know what the deal is. It’s as simple as that. We’ve got to go back home and do our job. They did their job. We’ve got to do our job…We got to go back home and protect home.”
The Bucks need to do that, especially after dropping two games in front of a wild Suns' crowd. Rest assured, the Bucks fans will be loud and ready for Game 3, and there is a very real possibility this series heads back to Phoenix with it knotted up at two games apiece.
Article Continues BelowWhile Giannis has been marvelous– totaling 62 points in the first two games– the rest of the Bucks have yet to find their groove. Jrue Holiday shot just 7-21 in Game 2, and Khris Middleton went 5-16 with 11 points. If the Bucks want any shot at protecting home court and coming back in this series, they will need the others to step up.
The Bucks were also down 0-2 to the Brooklyn Nets and found a way to come back and win the series in seven games, for what it's worth. Perhaps history will repeat itself, but the Bucks fans will be loud and wild for Game 3 on Sunday either way.
