Jabari Parker could make his season debut as early as this Friday when the Milwaukee Bucks host the New York Knicks, according to a report by Gery Woelfel of the Racine Journal Times. The standout forward has been sidelined this entire season with a second left ACL tear.

The Bucks young forward has been rehabbing and said he is feeling good to go, now just awaiting team officials give him the green light. He said he took part in a competitive workout with three other teammates Saturday, playing two-on-two with D.J. Wilson, Sean Kilpatrick and Rashad Vaughn.

“The workout yesterday was good,’’ Parker said. “It was just a shoot around for the regular guys because we play today, but I just grabbed  few guys that didn’t play (on Friday night) and it was good for me and them because we could get into a flow and stay sharp and try to get better.’’

Prior to Sunday’s game at the United Center against the Chicago Bulls, Parker said he expected to get an official date for his return by the end of the week.

“However, late Sunday night there were whispers the Bucks will make a public announcement on Parker’s return in the next few days, perhaps as soon as Monday,” wrote Woelfel.

Parker averaged 20.1 points and 6.2 rebounds while shooting 49 percent from the field in 51 games last season, before suffering the injury.

“It’s pretty much normal again,’’ Parker said of his injury after the extensive rehab.  “The goal is to play real soon, but I haven’t been given a date yet. They will let me know during the next week when the target date is and that will give me some clarity.

“Then I can transform into the mind-set that I need to compete. Right now I’m comfortable working out, lifting, getting better. Now I want to put it out there on the court. It’s going to be interesting.’’

Parker could come off the bench or start in limited minutes as a power forward, likely with minutes limitations as he goes through the gears and gets accustomed to the intensity of a midseason NBA game.
