The Milwaukee Bucks gave the Boston Celtics a taste of their own medicine in Game 1 of their NBA playoffs matchup. Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jrue Holiday and Brook Lopez led a phenomenal defensive performance against the Celtics, winning 101-89 in Boston.
Milwaukee held the Celtics to just 33.3 percent shooting. Among every Boston player who both attempted multiple shots, Al Horford was the only player to shoot above 40 percent. Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart combined to shoot 13-42 from the field.
The Bucks were one more forced miss shot away from making history. The Celtics' 10 made 2-pointers was the second-least amount that any team has recorded in a single game in the NBA playoffs.
With a couple late buckets, Boston avoided becoming the team with the fewest number of 2-point makes in a playoff game in NBA history. That record remains with the Rockets, who went 9-for-37 in Game 6 of the West semis against the Spurs in 2017. Boston finished the game 10-for-33

Antetokounmpo and Lopez, in particular, put the clamps on the Celtics. They allowed just three made shots on 20 attempts. The Bucks big men were monsters inside, scaring any Boston player that looked to get a close shot.

The Bucks winning in such a dominant fashion without Khris Middleton is a major indication of how good they are. The Greek Freak dominated even as he shoot 9-25 from the field while others around him made the shots they needed to pick up the victory.
Although the Celtics forced Antetokounmpo into a poor shooting performance, he had the last laugh and the Bucks have the 1-0 lead in the series. Game 2 is on Tuesday night.
