As you can see, Anthony Edwards served a few rhythm dribbles before nonchalantly pulling up in the face of the greatest player the NBA has ever seen (or at least one of the greatest players).
Edwards was the No. 1 selection of the Timberwolves in the 2020 NBA Draft, and he was widely believed to be one of the highest-upside players in draft class. Though it was many years ago, James, too, was the No. 1 selection in his draft all the way back in 2003 (before the preps-to-pros rule was dismissed).
Article Continues BelowThough the 19-year-old Edwards has shown flashes, he has been far from consistent in his rookie season. While he has started 10 games for the Timberwolves, he is shooting below only 38.6 percent from the field and 31.6 percent from downtown. His true shooting true shooting percentage is also only at 48.0 percent.
While his impressive frame and tremendous athleticism have helped him âpopâ on multiple highlight playsâas well as on defense at timesâhis game-to-game play has left something to be desired for Timberwolves fans.
The former UGA Bulldog has played the second-most minutes on the Timberwolves, yet he is dead last on the team in win shares at -0.3, which also makes him the only player on the team with a negative rating in that catch-all metric.
Still, the lights shone on Edwards on Tuesday, and he was able to drill a three against LeBron James.
