Derrick Rose is probably having flashbacks of his days as a heavily-recruited teenager, as he is now a free agent after getting traded and then being mutually waived. Similar to what he did in high school, Rose is now taking calls and thinking of which direction to go to next.
Since he's relatively young (30) and still possesses a certain quickness in his step, various teams have inquired for his services. Prior to getting sidelined for two months while with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Rose was scoring 14.7 points on 47-percent shooting in just 26.8 minutes of action per appearance.
The Washington Wizards and the Minnesota Timberwolves are two of the squads that are most interested, and according to Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic, the latter is emerging as the favorite.

Rose is interested in joining a playoff team, and the chance to stay close to his Chicago home and play for a coach he is familiar with is extremely appealing to him.
The Timberwolves have entertained the idea of bringing Rose in ever since [Tom] Thibodeau took over. They had extensive talks with the New York Knicks near the trade deadline last season, but never were able to complete a deal. They also had conversations with Rose this summer about adding him in free agency, but ultimately went with Jeff Teague as the starter and brought in Aaron Brooks for depth as the No. 3 point guard with Tyus Jones as the backup.
Rose reuniting with his Chicago Bulls coach, Tom Thibodeau, is interesting. Their partnership helped the team tally a league-leading 62-20 record in the 2010-11 season, with Rose earning MVP honors for the year that made him the youngest in NBA history to receive the award.
The big question, however, is Rose's willingness to play with former teammate and now-Timberwolves guard Jimmy Butler, whom he reportedly had a rocky relationship with while in Chicago.
