The Minnesota Timberwolves are finally having a breakout season, and this quick, hilarious clip might be one of the reasons why. They are having fun, but they focused on the core. For Karl-Anthony Towns, it’s in the too-focused-that-I-forgot-how-big-our-lead-is level.

At the halftime break, a reporter asked the Timberwolves big man about the team’s great effort on both ends of the court. Shocked when he saw they were up, 60-39, against the visiting Milwaukee Bucks, Towns drew a blank and was pretty much speechless:

“Golly,” he said after glancing at the scoreboard, with confusion in his face. “I didn’t know we were up by 21. I mean. Uhhh. Wow. Well. We played well. I can’t say much more about that.”

He caught himself shortly, though, and was finally able to articulate something.

“We gotta keep the same defensive intensity. I think we're making it hard very hard on them all-around. I think I gotta do a better job of making sure that [the Bucks'] second chance chances don't come as much… If we take those out, keep the defense the way we do, the lead can only grow.”

Towns had a heck of a first half, as he had 17 points, eight rebounds, and three assists in just 19 minutes.

As of this writing, the Wolves are still keeping the pace. They hold a comfortable lead over the Bucks with about a minute to go in the fourth quarter. It's been preached that the battle is “not over 'til it's over,” but this lead should be safe considering how the game has transpired.

The Timberwolves will improve to 33-22 with a win, still good for fourth in the Western Conference standings.
