There might never be another Stephen Curry. The greatest shooter of all time is in a class of his own. Since Curry rearranged the way basketball is played, more players are shooting the ball from deep more than ever. Still, when it comes to Curry, nobody can shoot it as he does. It's easy to say nobody will ever be Steph Curry, and it's probably correct.
It's only three players that have the chance to be the next Curry. Luka Doncic, Trae Young, and Duncan Robinson. All three players have similar abilities as Steph Curry. None are quite the same player but maybe one.
Doncic is a walking triple-double and natural-born competitor. He's not the fastest player in the world, but neither is Curry. Which makes them similar they use their elite ball-handling to get to any spot on the court they like. It's virtually impossible to defend these two scoring juggernauts one on one, so it rarely happens. Doncic is a loved fan favorite like Steph Curry, but he needs to make a playoff run and have some team success before we start to say he's next.
The Miami Heat's Duncan Robinson is an exceptional talent because of his Curry-like level of shooting. Not many can shoot it the way he does, and that's why the Heat gave him a five year 90 million dollar contract during this years free agency. Duncan's ability to move without the ball and catch and shoot is almost comparable to the three-point GOAT Curry. Thats about it, though. He's an elite shooter, but not much more than that. If he could create shots for himself, maybe he could be considered the next Steph Curry, but that's a skill you can't teach. Also, something that nobody expects out of Robinson.
Article Continues BelowLastly, there's Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Young. Who carried the Hawks to the conference finals and put the NBA on notice. He has extraordinary offensive creativity and is more than capable of knocking down threes from the logo. In his first playoff run, Young did something that Steph Curry hasn't done yet, becoming a villain. He can close games handle the rock, and although his percentage isn't as high as Curry's, he can shoot it, and his shot can get better as he develops.
With that being said, Trae Young is the closest thing to Steph Curry. At 22 years old, the sky is the limit for the young star.
While Young is getting better and better each year, there's only one Stephen Curry, and it's nothing wrong with being considered the next Steph Curry.
