Nicknamed ‘The Banana Boat Crew” after a photo of them riding an actual banana boat went viral, Chris Paul, LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Carmelo Anthony are the best of friends. The foursome takes vacations together, share meals with each other when their respective teams play and continually keep in touch through a group text. And similar to most tight knit friend groups, the four NBA stars have plenty of inside jokes and like to make fun of each other.
This fact was recently revealed by Wade in a conversation with Sports Illustrated‘s Rohan Nadkarni, as the Bulls guard explained how they all ganged up and made fun of Paul after he wore a “diarrhea brown turtleneck.”
Nadkarni: “Does the banana boat crew ever use the group text to talk about clothes?”
Wade: “Only when someone wears something the other guys want to talk about it.”
N: “Have you ever taken a photo of an outfit, sent it to LeBron and said, ‘Should I wear this?'”
W: “No, no. Never. No. [Laughs]”
N: “When was the last time you guys roasted someone for something they wore?”
W: “Chris Paul recently, when he was out with his thumb injury, he had wore this, it was really like this diarrhea brown—not diarrhea green—diarrhea brown turtleneck with the jacket. Oh man, I went right to the group chat with the eye emoji like “What the?” But they do the same to me. So we definitely have some fun with each other on things like that.”

Calling it “diarrhea brown” may be a bit extreme but as Wade says it is all in good fun. Also as Wade himself admits, he makes some interesting fashion choices from time to time, so he is fine with also getting made fun of by his peers.
Overall though, this shows how tight James, Wade, Anthony and Paul are. They are real friends till the real end.
