One of the coolest things for NBA rookies is getting to share the floor with the people that they grew up watching and idolized growing up. Apparently, the same goes for the parents of these rookies as well. Atlanta Hawks rookie guard Trae Young's father, Ray, posted a sentimental message via Twitter praising Durant and admiring just how far his son had come;

The elder Young posted a quartet of photos that showed his son with Durant at several different points of time, showcasing Trae's growth and Durants lasting impact on his game.

Tuesday night marked the first meeting between Young and Durant, and while the game was competitive to the last minute, neither had a great game.

Durant scored a game-high 29 points but shot an uncharacteristic 9-23 from the field, failing to convert on all three of his shots from downtown and turning the ball over four times.

The Hawks rookie had a nightmare of a game, shooting 2-12 from the field and 0-5 from the three-point line. One bright spot was his nine assists, and the young sharpshooter can take solace in that he was playing against one of the stronger defensive teams in the league.

Regardless of the outcome or performance, it still must be nice for Young to match up against one of the best players in the world and get a chance to play against the defending NBA champions.

Unfortunately, a Young/Curry matchup never materialized as Curry works through a nagging groin injury. For that, viewers will have to wait for Dec 3rd, when the Warriors will head to Atlanta for a rematch with the Hawks.
