Imagine one of the greatest players in NBA history embarking on a personal mission in a contract year, neglecting talks of his future and putting up one of his finest postseason runs ever as part of the Warriors' dynasty, only to have it all seemingly washed away due to injury.
Now imagine that same player–who has been surrounded by skepticism and labeled as his team's best and last hope–returning to overcome a 1-3 deficit and lead his team to a third straight NBA championship.
Sounds quite cinematic, no? Klay Thompson would agree.
With news that Kevin Durant will practice on Sunday in advance of Game 5 on Monday night in Toronto, Thompson said that it would be “storybook” if Durant returned to help the Warriors win their straight NBA title against all odds:

There has been an aura of uncertainty that has surrounded Durant's status since he left Game 5 of the Western Conference semifinals with what was diagnosed as a mild calf strain. Although it was pretty clear that he would not play in the Western Conference finals, the Warriors had hoped that he would be available for this series.
Durant was listed as an early inactive for the first three games of the series. With the Raptors taking two of those games, he tried to practice ahead of Game 4, but would eventually be ruled out of the contest.
But with Golden State's season hanging in the balance, Durant will once again test out his calf in the hopes that he can return and provide the final piece to the puzzle as the Warriors try to prolong the series.
