After Sean Marks became the Brooklyn Nets general manager during the 2015-16 NBA season, they have taken an interesting approach to their rebuilding process. Instead of trying to recruit free agents who would never sign, Marks has replenished the team's young prospects and draft picks by taking on what are considered to be untradeable contracts like Timofey Mozgov's four-year, $64 million deal from the Los Angeles Lakers.
While it will take time for the team to develop, head coach Kenny Atkinson is optimistic heading into his second season. With Atkinson potentially having an 11-man rotation, he discussed the team's depth according to Bryan Fonseca of Nets Daily:

Along with Russell, Jarrett Allen, Allen Crabbe, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, Sean Kilpatrick and Caris LeVert are a few names worth monitoring.
Heading into the 2017-18 season, the Nets are hoping their players can take the next step in their development. With Atkinson being open to an 11-man rotation, these prospects will truly have an opportunity to learn from their mistakes while playing significant minutes in Brooklyn.
In his first season as head coach, Atkinson finished with a 20-62 record.
