New Orleans Pelicans star Anthony Davis grew an inch taller this summer, but he said wasn't happy about it.
They measured us like a week and a half ago and they said I was 6-11, which I don’t want to be. I think 6-10’s like the perfect height for me. It just doesn’t sound right. 6-10 sounds perfect to me. 6-11, 7 feet, I can’t, I don’t like it
Technically with his shoes on, Davis will be 7 feet tall on the basketball court, which will make his long limbs and athleticism even more intimidating, but he doesn't care to be classified that way.
I’m now 6-10. I’m technically 6-11, but I’m 6-10. I will always tell everybody 6-10. I don’t care if I’m 7-3, I’m 6-10 … Maybe it’s the hair. I don’t know. I have great hair.
During rookie measurements in 2012, Davis measured 6-10 1/2 with shoes on, so it's not a stretch to put him in the seven feet club, but he probably doesn't want to be classified as a center.

Similarly, Warriors star Kevin Durant alludes revealing his true height, except for when it comes to dating.
For me, when I’m talking to women, I’m 7 feet. In basketball circles, I’m 6-9.
An extra inch can't hurt Davis' game one bit. Last season he averaged 24.3 points and 10.3 rebounds per game listed at 6-10.
Granted he stays healthy, he should continue to produce at a high level and have an all star caliber year.
