After leaving an exhibition game against the Houston Rockets on Wednesday, New Orleans Pelicans forward Anthony Davis was diagnosed with a grade two ankle sprain.
The injury occurred only six minutes into the matchup when he accidentally stepped on the foot of Rockets' center Nene.
The moment was captured and tweeted by Scott Kushner of The Advocate:
Looks like a fairly typical ankle roll for AD, stepping on Nene's heel. #Pelicans pic.twitter.com/PMDPfX6les

The 23-year-old now finds himself in a race against time as he hopes to play in the team's season opener on Oct. 26 when the Pelicans host the Denver Nuggets.
But as ESPN's Marc J. Spears shared a photo of the three-time All-Star on his Twitter account, it appears that his status for their first game is up in the air as he was seen on a walking boot, which is not a good sign at all. Given the severity of his ankle sprain, it usually takes 10-15 days to recover from it.

This sight certainly looks alarming for his fans as Davis has battled a variety of injuries in the past which has only allowed him to play 68 games at the most for one season.
The New Orleans faithful are hoping he recovers quickly and gets back into action the soonest as his team will depend a lot on him.
