The New Orleans Pelicans reportedly reached out to the Boston Celtics this week to discuss the framework of a possible Anthony Davis deal, according to Adam Himmelsbach of The Boston Globe.

The Celtics can't trade for Davis this season while Kyrie Irving is on the roster because of the “Rose Rule,” and Boston has made it clear to New Orleans and other teams that there are no plans to trade Irving.

So, the Pelicans and Celtics are probably discussing what a potential trade for Anthony Davis would look like in the summer.

According to league sources, the Pelicans reached out to the Celtics this week to discuss the framework of a possible Davis deal, ostensibly to ensure that if they pass up on other offers before Thursday’s deadline, it would be for good reason.

Celtics forward Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are the type of young players the Pelicans are looking to get in return for Davis, who is arguably a top-five player in the NBA. Boston also has a bevy of draft picks New Orleans has interest in.

There have been rumors circulating that Davis doesn't want to play for Boston, but that could change during the summer when The Brow and Irving can sit down and talk about their future together with the Celtics.
