Anthony Davis managed to come back to the game after a hip injury scare and led his New Orleans Pelicans to a ninth straight win, this time a 121-116 victory over the L.A. Clippers.

With the streak intact, Davis wasn't short of answering a somewhat-obvious question post-game.

Asked how critical it is to win at this stretch of the season with the third to eighth spots separated by only 3.5 games, The Brow gave the courteous answer to save the reporter some ridicule.

“Very critical,” said Davis after giving a Harden-esque roll of the eyes. “If we know that we can drop (in the standings) at any point off one game. Every game would be critical.”

This could have gone much worse for the reporter, just ask Chris Paul, who had a similar experience this last postseason with the same individual.

Davis went off yet again, stuffing the stat sheet with 41 points, 13 rebounds, two assists, three steals, and three blocks — hitting 17 of his 31 attempts from the floor, 4-of-7 from deep, and a clean 3-of-3 from the stripe.

Since the start of February, Davis has had a 53-point game, five 40-plus-point games, and two 38-point games in his resume, leading the Pelicans to a 10-3 record through that stretch.

The Pelicans are a full game behind the third-place Portland Trail Blazers and only a half game above the Minnesota Timberwolves and the San Antonio Spurs, making the race that much tighter in the middle of the playoff board.

So long as his teammates keep stepping up, Davis should have no problem putting up these type of numbers through the rest of the season and garnering a high seed by mid-April.
