New Orleans Pelicans All-Star Anthony Davis has heard his name tossed about in a whirlwind of trade scenarios in recent days.
There are said to be several teams interested in his services, including the Los Angeles Lakers. However, the former No. 1 overall pick says he is staying focused in the here and now.
In a recent interview with The Athletic, Davis noted some of the goals he has set for his career, and one of those goals is winning a championship.
The Pelicans have played their way to an 18-22 record through the early stages of this season. Most experts think the team will make it to the playoffs, but what if they don't? Or worse, what if New Orleans is sent home in the first round? Would Davis be open to playing for a new team?

Davis, now 25 years of age, went on to add that he isn't thinking that far ahead. Instead, he's focusing on ways to help his team.
“For me, it’s always about in the moment,” Davis said. “If you try to think too far ahead, you get caught, you get lost from what is going on in the moment. For me it’s always about tonight’s game, today’s shootaround, how can I be better in the moment instead of trying to plan too far ahead or look too far ahead, because you lose sight of the moment. I think that’s what people get caught up in, just not being able to stay in the moment and cherish the moment and figure out what you can do right now to help your team.”
Without a doubt, Davis has established himself as one of the best players in today's NBA. He's made 35 appearances with the Pelicans this season (all starts), racking up averages of 28.5 points on 50.6 percent shooting from the field (31.8 percent from beyond the arc), 13.3 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 2.6 blocks and 1.8 steals in 37.0 minutes per outing.
Whether or not Davis will indeed be traded remains to be seen. For now, it sounds like he's focused on the task at hand.
