One would be hard-pressed to find a college coach with a stronger bond to his former players than Kentucky head coach John Calipari. Headlining his long list of star NBA players is New Orleans Pelicans big man Anthony Davis.

Davis made history on Friday night by becoming the Pelicans' all-time leading scorer in franchise history. Needless to say, Calipari used it as an opportunity for a congratulatory roast for Davis on his Twitter account.

Calipari's minor dig at Davis just goes to show the rapport he has with a lot of his former players. Bonds such as these are part of what has made both Kentucky and its student-athletes so successful over the last decade.

That said, there is no more formidable Wildcat in the NBA that is playing up to Davis' level right now. “The Brow” capped his historic night with 43 points, 10 rebounds, and three steals en route to a solid 114-100 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder. Perhaps what was even more impressive about his feat was that he managed to do it in nearly six seasons without ever playing a full 82 games.

Davis' big night has been reminiscent of his numbers all year. Despite the fluctuating season that New Orleans has endured, the five-time All-Star continues to be the most dynamic big man in the league. He is currently averaging 26.2 points, 10.6 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks per game.

With fellow star big man DeMarcus Cousins out for the season with an Achilles injury, he may have to shoulder an even heavier workload than before. Although the addition of power forward Nikola Mirotic can help alleviate some of the pressure from scoring, Cousins' impact was felt in a wide variety of areas that Davis may have to become accustomed to doing.
