Zion Williamson is obviously going to get all the hype and attention this upcoming season since he was the No. 1 overall pick, but Jaxson Hayes and Nickeil Alexander-Walker showed in Summer League they are going to play an important role on the Pelicans.
Article Continues BelowIn his lone season at Duke, Williamson put on an absolute show. The high-flyer averaged 22.6 points, 8.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game while shooting 68.0 percent from the field, 33.8 percent from beyond the arc and 64.0 percent from the free-throw line. There hasn’t been this much hype surrounding a player since LeBron James. The Pelicans are hoping Williamson carves out a similar career as James — although that might be too much to ask from Zion.
At Texas, Hayes put up 10.0 points and 5.0 rebounds. He showed off his athleticism in Las Vegas, something the Pelicans are really excited to watch in the NBA since bigs are running the floor with more regularity now.
Alexander-Walker averaged 16.2 points and 4.0 assists at Virginia Tech last season. He figures to be a sponge around Jrue Holiday, who is one of the best two-way players in the league.
