New Orleans Pelicans forward Zion Williamson seems to be making significant steps in his recovery from foot injury. However, the team will know more about his progression after his latest scans are analyzed.
Head coach Willie Green provided the update on Zion on Wednesday prior to their game against the Washington Wizards. Based on Green's comments, Williamson has not encountered any setback in his return bid–even elevating his workouts to include 3-on-3s after he was allowed for full contact drills starting with 1-on-1s.

He had his scans today. We’re waiting on the specialist to review the scans. Once that happens, we’re hopeful he can progress even more. But it’s a wait and see.”
Zion Williamson got another series of scans on his injured right foot on Wednesday, and depending on the results, he could progress to 5-on-5 workouts. There is still no clear timetable on his return, but increasing his workload and having him join scrimmages is an important step to get him ready for game action.
The 21-year-old forward broke his foot in August and underwent surgery. However, the Pelicans only informed the public of the situation in September, though executive VP David Griffin said that Williamson would be ready before the start of the 2021-22 season.
Of course that didn't happen as Williamson's recovery proved to be slower than expected. Now that he's on his way to full health, hopes are high he won't suffer any setback.
