Williamson is averaging 26.0 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game, as of writing. He’s lived up to the hype bestowed upon him during his rookie year. Just last week, Williamson broke the record of the Los Angeles Lakers’ LeBron James and Dallas Mavericks phenom Luka Doncic by scoring 21-straight 20-point games. Williamson has the potential to be one of the best players in the league one day—if he already isn’t.
The Duke University standout remains focused on following Stan Van Gundy’s system every game. After defeating the Lakers on Tuesday, Williamson mentioned that as much as he feels he can score, the 20-year-old wants to be a constant playmaker for his team. He has a rising superstar alongside him in Brandon Ingram and a couple of key players who can help Williamson do just that.
Aside from his impressive individual performance this season, Zion Williamson has his eyes on making his first playoff appearance. Prior to their Saturday night game against the Mavericks, the Pelicans are 12th in the standings with a record of 19-25 as they aim to, at least, make it to the play-in tournament (or even higher) this year.
