The New Orleans Pelicans stunned the streaking Denver Nuggets on Sunday with an impressive 113-108 victory. The Pelicans were led by Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram’s 30 points respectively. Aside from their victory against the Los Angeles Clippers, this was one of the best games for the Pelicans this season.

Williamson, who also had six rebounds on Sunday for the Pelicans, told ESPN Radio New Orleans postgame that he looks forward to winning games for his team especially during crunch time.

Thanks to the sophomore’s made free throws in the fourth quarter, the Pelicans were able to run away with the lead. Williamson said that his success in making free throws is a testament to the work he’s put in when the lights are not shining on him.

The Pelicans are currently 11th in the tough Western Conference, just in position to be part of this year’s play-in tournament. However, Pelicans head coach Stan Van Gundy for sure would like his team to climb the standings in order to get a spot to compete in the Playoffs happening late May.

The victory against the Nuggets was a total team effort for New Orleans, which also got contributions from Nickeii Alexander-Walker, Eric Bledsoe and Josh Heart. They played today’s game without point guard Lonzo Ball, who’s currently out with an injured right wrist.

The Pels will look to rank up more wins as they face a depleted Los Angeles Lakers team on Tuesday followed by another rematch with the Nuggets and at home versus the Dallas Mavericks.
