The New Orleans Pelicans are reportedly not hopeful superstar big man Anthony Davis will stay with the franchise if they don't trade him by the Feb. 7 trade deadline, according to Scott Kushner of The Advocate.
The Los Angeles Times reported on early Tuesday the Pelicans were hopeful Anthony Davis would have a change of heart, but that doesn't appear to be the case.

If the Pelicans don't trade Davis by Thursday, they will look to move him in the summer. The offseason is when the Boston Celtics can get involved in the Davis sweepstakes and offer their bevy of assets, headlined by Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Terry Rozier and multiple draft picks.

Davis is currently dealing with a left index finger injury. The All-Star power forward told reporters last week he wants to play again this season if he's not traded by Thursday, but the Pelicans might want to sit AD and avoid the risk of Davis getting hurt.
There hasn't been a player in recent memory who requested a trade and then changed his mind. Davis has only won one playoff series with the Pelicans since being taken as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft. The Brow clearly wants to play for a contender.
