The New Orleans Pelicans might have announced a new signing on accident the other night during warmups.

In a game against the Houston Rockets on Friday — a game the Pelicans won, by the way — New Orleans was going through its regular pregame routine when a new player took the court in his own warmups.

The new player, who appeared to be participating in his first game in uniform for the Pelicans, had an unusual pregame routine — jumping jacks, some wide stretches and even a little bit of dancing. But every player warms up in their own way.

He then asked for a ball from one of the ball boys and took his first shot in a Pelicans uniform. It's unclear whether or not the shot went in.

But what was clear is that the new player wasn't a player at all. It was a fan that found a way onto the court. After he took the shot, a security guard came up behind him, tapped him on the shoulder and escorted him off the court and back to his seat.

The video below shows the entire incident, and it's hilarious.

Fans sneak onto courts, fields and all things in between all the time. That's quite normal in sports.

The biggest question here is this: How in the world did that fan even get a ball to shoot in the first place?! Do the ball boys not know their own players? Maybe they don't but it should've been clear that the fan was being a silly goose and clearly not an NBA player.

Props have to be given to the fan for taking the rouse far enough to actually get a shot up.
