New Orleans Pelicans forward Zion Williamson will have an “incremental increase” in minutes against the Los Angeles Clippers, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Williamson will be playing closer to 20 minutes than 30 minutes a game and he'll also be ending quarters, instead of starting them, Woj said on ESPN’s “Countdown.”

In Thursday's matchup against the Utah Jazz, Pelicans head coach Alvin Gentry took out Williamson with 7:19 left in the fourth quarter. Williamson never returned to the game, which surprised some people as it was a relatively close game against the Jazz. Furthermore, that game really mattered since the Pelicans are currently in a tight playoff race in the Western Conference.

The Pelicans are 3.5 games behind the Memphis Grizzlies for the eighth seed in the Western Conference playoff race. Since they only have seven games left of the season, every game is extremely crucial.

Nevertheless, after Zion Williamson was subbed out of the game, the Pelicans were outscored 17-8 in the fourth quarter. They ended up losing against the Jazz by only two points. Williamson finished with 13 points on 6-of-8 shooting in 15 minutes but didn't record a rebound, a steal or a block. According to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports, Williamson was reportedly “pissed” about his minute restrictions against the Jazz.

Nevertheless, the Pelicans will surely need Williamson to play heavy minutes against the Clippers, who are one of the top teams in the league. The Pelicans will have to finish the season within four games of the eighth seed to advance to a play-in tournament.
