Things in the New York Knicks training camp seem to be going smoothly, after a long offseason and plenty of time to get acquainted, the new signing Derrick Rose and star forward Carmelo Anthony are on the same page.

Much has been made about two ball-dominant players co-existing on the same court — to Rose, it’s pretty simple — there is one objective and he’s there to help achieve it.

“My job is to help him win,” Rose said of Anthony to ESPN’s Ian Begley.

“This is his team.”

Rose is doing the right thing here, with only one year left on his contract, he needs to do whatever the team asks of him to make the franchise a winner, or else he could find himself in a different place next summer.

Two alpha dogs on the same team can be a pain in the neck for most coaches, just ask Scott Brooks who coached Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant for many years in Oklahoma City.

By asserting the fact that the Knicks are Anthony’s team, Rose is giving him the liberty to take the shots he wants, and could find himself on the facilitating end of that situation as a drive-and-kick point guard who can finish at the rim.

If the Chicago native can stay healthy the majority of the season and perform at a proficient level, he will be able to bolster New York’s offense and catapult them to a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
