The Battle of New York is supposed to be one of the more exciting games in the calendar for the New York Knicks, and fans were understandably excited to see this on TV. However, TNT dropped the game as it holds no real value when it comes to drawing power.

The Associated Press' Brian Mahoney was one of the first journalists to report the decision made by TNT. However, a quick glance at the game they chose to replace it will make fans see why it wasn't such a hard decision for the station execs to pull off.

If you're a TV executive, there's little to no sense on putting a game that has as little going on about it as the Knicks-Nets game. There's little to no merit to broadcasting it other than making the biggest market in the world happy.

First of all, the Knicks are in a terrible place right now. They're still sorting things out with Mike Miller. It's unlikely that they'll become a team worth watching this season as they still lack talented players in multiple areas.

The Nets also don't have anything going for them. Kyrie Irving and Caris LeVert, the other two offensive powerhouses for Brooklyn, won't make an appearance in this game due to injuries. However, the Nets are a well-coached team that should be able to put on a show.

These two squads don't have enough going for them to sway TNT from covering Luka Doncic instead. The Slovenian NBA superstar is on a roll right now, and it's a no-brainer for the network to pick his game over the Knicks.

They might come a time where the Battle of the Boroughs may become a relevant watch on national television, but today is not that day.
