New York Knicks guard Dennis Smith Jr. will miss Monday's game against the Chicago Bulls due to a death in the family, per Ian Begley of SNY.
Dennis Smith Jr. won’t be with the Knicks for tomorrow’s game vs. CHI due to a death in the family. Incredibly sad news for the Knicks guard. Not that this matters, but a source says it’s unclear when Smith Jr. will be back with the team, which is understandable.

Per Stefan Bondy, the tragedy occurred after the Knicks' loss on Saturday against the Boston Celtics.

Smith has been off to start the 2019-20 season. In their first three games, Smith has only put up 1.0 point per game on 9.1 percent shooting in 8.7 minutes of play.
It seems that he's struggling to apply the little tweaks that he made on his jump shot over the summer into an actual game. He admitted that the fixes he made were nothing major. But he's still taking some time to get it back. Some reports also reveal that he's suffering from the ill effects of a wrist injury he suffered in Dallas. On top of this, Smith also suffered a back injury in the first few days of training camp which caused him to miss two preseason games.
Perhaps it is safe to say that the 2019-20 season hasn't been treating Smith that well. The good thing is that he has ample time to recover and prove that he deserves to in the NBA, donning the legendary Knicks jersey. Knicks fans are hoping for the best and are confident that he'll get over this hump.
