NBA Hall of Famer and current TNT analyst Charles Barkley says Kevin Durant doesn't have the “mental makeup” to play for the New York Knicks.

Barkley says if Durant is arguing with people on social media, the two-time Finals MVP won't be able to handle the ruthless New York media.

“Well I'd say Kevin, you're one of the greatest players I've ever seen. You've also got some of the thinnest skin I've ever seen. I don't know if you're made for New York City,” Barkley said, via Ian Begley of SNY.

“If he's arguing with these teenagers online, he's not going to be able to deal with that New York media. He's a great person, he's a great player. I don't think he has the mental makeup to play in New York, that's just my personal opinion.”

Durant becomes an unrestricted free agent this summer once he declines his 2019-20 player option with the Golden State Warriors. KD has been heavily linked to signing with the Knicks along with Boston Celtics point guard Kyrie Irving.

The Knicks have cap space to sign two max contract players this summer. They freed up that second max slot after trading Kristaps Porzingis to the Dallas Mavericks at the 2019 February trade deadline.

Durant is arguably the best basketball player in the world when he's healthy, but Barkley is right; KD may be too sensitive to play in New York.
