Mercedes Benz is a highly premium brand, and it appears that their marketing team have seen something in Robinson that caught their eye. This is definitely a wonderful bit of news for the Knicks youngster, with his hard work and effort already paying dividends at this early point in his career.
Article Continues BelowRobinson is coming off an eight-point, eight-rebound performance on Wednesday in a loss to the Phoenix Suns. The contest saw the return of veteran big man DeAndre Jordan, which has proven to be Robinson's biggest handcuff of late. Nonetheless, he did still manage to swat four shots and record two steals, so the 36th overall pick is still putting up remarkable defensive stats despite the modest playing time (21.3 minutes in his last three appearances).
On the season, Robinson is averaging 6.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, 0.8 steals, and 2.3 blocks in just 18.7 minutes per ballgame. That's good for a league-leading 4.5 blocks on a per-36 minutes ratio. Indiana Pacers defensive stalwart Myles Turner comes in a distant second behind Robinson with 3.6 blocks per 36 minutes.
The Knicks have definitely found a gem in Robinson, and so long as he continues to make the right strides in his development, he may be able to force his way into the team's young nucleus.
