New York Knicks rookie Mitchell Robinson continues to show promise this season. In fact, his impressive play allowed him to notch a statistical feat that only Shaquille O'Neal and Kevin Garnett were able to accomplish as rookies.

Mitchell Robinson has missed a significant number of games this season due to injury, but ever since he returned, he's been fun to watch and has been a great addition to the team. He has become the team's defensive anchor and his offense is also improving.
The 20 year-old big man is averaging 6.8 points and 5.4 rebounds per game, but what has been great about him is his shot blocking ability. He's rejecting 2.3 shots per game, which is third best in the league.
Article Continues BelowRobinson is also shooting close to 70 percent for the season, which is a testament to how good his shot selection is. He also moves well without the ball, making it easier for teammates to give him lob passes and good looks through pick and rolls.
It is unlikely for Robinson to be considered as a candidate for Rookie of the Year honors, but if he continues to develop, he has the potential to become one of the most athletic defensive centers in the league.
The Knicks will most likely take Zion Williamson in this June's draft, so imagine a frontcourt of Williamson and Robinson.
That looks promising for the fans of New York. Even if they don't land a superstar free agent, the core of Robinson, Dennis Smith Jr., and possibly Williamson is something that should guarantee long-term success, if handled right by the franchise.
