New York Knicks big man Mitchell Robinson sustained a sprained finger during his team's loss to the Boston Celtics on Friday night, but he is available to play against the Sacramento Kings on Sunday, per the team.

Robinson logged six points, six rebounds and a couple of blocks in 16 minutes versus Boston. On the season overall, he is averaging 10.2 points, 6.6 boards and 2.2 blocks over 18.2 minutes per game while shooting 67.7 percent from the floor and 75 percent from the free-throw line.

The 21-year-old was set to play his collegiate basketball at Western Kentucky, but he didn't actually take the floor once.

He decided to try his luck at the NBA Draft last year, and the Knicks ultimately took a flier on him in the second round (36th pick overall) due to his size and athleticism.

Robinson ended up being a pleasant surprise for New York during his rookie campaign, playing in 66 games with 19 starts and registering 7.3 points, 6.4 boards and 2.4 blocks across 20.6 minutes a night while making 69.4 percent of his field-goal attempts and 60 percent of his foul shots.

As a result of his first-year success, the Knicks have made him a full-time starter this season.

New York has gotten off to a 1-5 start, with its lone victory coming at the expense of the Chicago Bulls last Monday.

The Knicks won just 17 games last year, matching their lowest win total in franchise history. The first time New York achieved such a dubious distinction was during the 2014-15 campaign. It has not made the playoffs since 2013.
