New York Knicks sophomore Mitchell Robinson wants to make a bigger impact for the team this upcoming season.

Robinson, the 36th pick in last year's NBA Draft, surprised a lot of people with his stellar performance for the Knicks, especially on the defensive end. He blocked 2.4 shots in 66 games for New York while also averaging 7.3 points and 6.4 rebounds. In his interview with Ian Begley of SNYTV, the 21-year-old big man said that he plans to improve his game next season, with the emphasis on being able to stay out of trouble.

“I slide my feet more than I did (at the beginning of his rookie season). The game kind of slowed down for me at the end of last season. So the only thing I can do now is pick up where I left off last season, which is continue to stay out of foul trouble and get better.”

With the Knicks in rebuild mode, their focus is clearly on the development of the young guys on the roster. They have an interesting young core of Robinson, Alonzo Trier, Dennis Smith Jr., and this year's third overall pick, RJ Barrett. Although this wasn't the ideal team that New York had in mind prior to this summer, they still want to contend for a playoff spot, which is why they're expecting a lot from everyone on the team.

Robinson knows this, and he's ready to step up for the Knicks. He'll most probably be the team's starting center, which means that he'll have one tough assignment after another as he is expected to stand his ground against guys like Joel Embiid, Anthony Davis, LaMarcus Aldridge, and a lot more.

He understands that he has a lot of work to do in order to improve, and he's already accepted the challenge of taking his game to the next level as soon as possible.
