The New York Knicks have reportedly received permission from the Cavs to speak to their capologist for an assistant general manager role, per Stefan Bondy of The New York Daily News.

The capologist's name is Brock Aller. He served as a personal assistant to Cavs owner Dan Gilbert for 10 years before his promotion in 2017 to senior director of basketball operations for Cleveland.

New York's new president of basketball operations is Leon Rose, who used to run CAA:

Before the NBA suspended the season two weeks ago after Utah Jazz All-Star center Rudy Gobert tested positive for the coronavirus, the Knicks had a record of 21-45. The franchise was on its way to missing the playoffs yet again.

If the 2019-20 season resumes, and that's a big if, the Knicks will be in 12th place in the Eastern Conference standings. The NBA could cancel the rest of the regular season and have a play-in tournament for the playoff contenders, which clearly wouldn't include the Knicks.

This is all, however, contingent upon the coronavirus. No games can be played anywhere until the pandemic dies down.

Knicks fans have to go all the way back to the 2012-13 season to find the last New York team which had a winning record and made the postseason. The Knicks have become a national joke under owner James Dolan.

That's why Knicks fans are praying Rose can save the team since he has so many connections in the league through CAA.
