It's the end of a brief and unsuccessful era in New York. On Saturday morning, Adrian Wojnarowski and Ian Begley of ESPN reported that the New York Knicks have officially waived center Joakim Noah.

New York is using the waive and stretch provision to cover for the remaining $38 million on Noah's current deal, per Woj, which will give the Knicks an annual cap hit of $6.4 million for the next three seasons, starting from 2019-20. Noah's $18.5 salary is still penciled in the Knicks' books for this 2018-19 season.

The Knicks have been trying to deal Noah since last season but have been unsuccessful, since they were unwilling to include any of their young pieces or draft picks in a deal to potentially dump Noah's atrocious contract. The 33-year old also butted heads with former Knicks coach Jeff Hornacek.

In two forgettable seasons with New York, Noah suited up for just 53 games and averaged 4.6 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 2.0 assists in roughly 20 minutes per game.

Noah will become available in the market after he clears waivers early next week. The only problem is there aren't any NBA teams interested in the former Chicago Bulls All-Star center. The big man has been on a decline since the 2015-16 season, mainly due to injuries, after having career year in 2014-15, where he was named to the All-NBA first team.

Tom Thibodeau and the Minnesota Timberwolves once expressed interest in Noah, but that's been shut down as Thibodeau is dealing with his own set of issues in Minnesota.
