With the whole basketball world going crazy following New Orleans Pelicans superstar Anthony Davis reportedly requesting for a trade, the New York Knicks have now emerged as a serious contender for the want-away All-Star.
As reported by Knicks insider Moke Hamilton via Twitter, the Knicks would be in contention to land Davis if they were to throw in their unprotected number one pick in the trade package.
According to @WindhorstESPN, the Knicks could be "in the game" for Anthony Davis, who are one of the few teams he would sign an extension with. "If they'd be willing to make their number one pick, unprotected this year, available… I think the Knicks are in the game."

With this huge bit of news making headlines this morning, a number of NBA teams are surely scrambling right now to come up with a package that would entice the Pelicans.
According to the above report, it appears that the Knicks might have the upper hand if they decide to offer their first overall pick.

Duke standout Zion Williamson is currently the consensus number one overall pick in the 2019 draft class. For the Pelicans, getting Williamson in exchange for Davis — who they will need to part ways with either way — would definitely be a mouth-watering prospect.
The Pelicans are expected to pull the trigger on the Davis trade within the next few days, and until anything is finalized, the Knicks will remain to be a serious contender for the 25-year-old's coveted signature.
