Over the weekend, the New York Post reported that a woman has accused Dallas Mavericks big man Kristaps Porzingis of rape, and that the New York Police Department is currently investigating the allegations. The alleged incident occurred on Feb. 7, 2018, when Porzingis was a member of the New York Knicks.

“Hours after suffering a devastating knee injury at Madison Square Garden last year, former Knicks star Kristaps Porzingis came home and allegedly raped a neighbor he had invited to his luxury Manhattan penthouse, the woman told police, according to law-enforcement sources,” reads the original report from the New York Post from over the weekend. “The woman made her stunning allegation against the 23-year-old player on Thursday afternoon — and investigators consider her credible, one high-ranking NYPD source told The Post.”

Mavs coach Rick Carlisle was asked by reporters on Sunday about the accusations against Porzingis.

This investigation remains ongoing, and the Post has reported that the NYPD's Special Victims Division has taken over the case. As of Saturday evening, Porzingis had yet to be charged with a crime. Meanwhile, both the NBA and Mavericks will likely wait until the legal portion of this case unfolds before making any decisions of their own.
