After prolonged talks, Gary Harris and the Denver Nuggets have finally reached an agreement on a four-year, $84 million contract extension. Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN was the first to report on this latest development from Denver’s camp.

The two sides managed to beat the deadline of October 16 to agree on a new contract for the Michigan State product who was one of the team’s top performers a season ago. During the 2016-17 campaign, Harris recorded career-high outputs of 14.9 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game. Harris was limited to only 57 games last season due to various injuries but the Nuggets clearly see plenty of promise for the rapidly improving 23-year-old shooting guard.

Gary Harris is expected to be the Nuggets' starting two guard and is poised to have an even bigger role moving forward, especially in a thin Denver backcourt. Harris is now looking like a breakout candidate this season.

Harris was drafted by the Chicago Bulls in 2014 but was later traded to Denver along with a second-round pick and Jusuf Nurkic in exchange for Doug McDermott and Anthony Randolph.
