Since entering the NBA in 2015, Nikola Jokic has continued to improve his game, which has helped him emerge as a future star of the league. He has been able to showcase his brilliant all-around game that has impressed many, including Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr.
The 52-year-old was asked who he thinks can be compared to what Jokic brings to the Denver Nuggets, and he quickly dropped the name of the legendary Arvydas Sabonis. He played seven years in the NBA, and is one of the best centers from Europe to bring his talents to the league.
“A little Arvydas Sabonis in him…”

The two may have similar styles of play, but the most noticeable could arguably be how good they both are with passing, especially when locating the open man whenever they are double-teamed. Nikola Jokic is once again averaging more than four assists per match this season, which is a testament to how the Nuggets center has excelled on that facet of the game.
With what Nikola Jokic has shown over his two-plus years in the NBA so far, Steve Kerr definitely makes a strong case for the Nuggets' rising star to be compared to the Hall of Famer. It may be too early to say, but the comparison could only inspire him to play even better in the future, and end up close to what Sabonis has achieved during his playing days.
