Oklahoma City Thunder forward Danilo Gallinari is funding 400 COVID-19 test kits as well as protective equipment for the OKC-County Health Department, according to Royce Young of ESPN.

Young notes that the department has recently partnered with a lab out of Texas to test high-risk individuals.

The 2019-20 NBA campaign was suspended earlier this month after Utah Jazz big man Rudy Gobert tested positive for the coronavirus. The league is on hiatus until further notice.

Gallinari, a native of Italy, is in his first season with the Thunder after coming over along with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander in a trade that sent Paul George to the Los Angeles Clippers this past summer.

In 55 games prior to the suspension of the NBA season, Gallinari was averaging 19.2 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.1 assists over 30.7 minutes per game while shooting 43.9 percent from the floor, 40.9 percent from three-point range and 88.6 percent from the free-throw line.

The 31-year-old was originally selected by the New York Knicks with the sixth overall pick of the 2008 NBA Draft.

However, Gallinari spent just two-and-a-half years with the Knicks before being dealt to the Denver Nuggets as part of a package that sent Carmelo Anthony to New York in February 2011.

While Gallinari showed considerable potential in Denver, he had a whole lot of difficulty staying healthy. He missed the entire 2013-14 season due to knee issues stemming from a torn ACL near the end of 2012-13, and ever since then, Gallinari has had trouble staying on the floor.

As a matter of fact, between 2014-15 and 2018-19, the Italian averaged just 52.8 games per season. The 68 games he played last year was his highest mark since 2012-13, and he appeared to be on track to break that mark this season before the pause.
