The Oklahoma City Thunder have set a new franchise record in their game versus the Memphis Grizzlies Wednesday night. The Thunder won 121-114 on the strength of their hot-shooting from deep, making 17 of their 37 three-pointers.

Paul George led the way with 28 points including 6-of-9 from the three-point line. Carmelo Anthony added four three-pointers of his own on 4-of-10 shooting.

Other players who contributed to the record-setting night include Patrick Patterson (3-of-4), Raymond Felton (2-of-4), and Terrance Ferguson (2-of-2).

It’s important to note, however, that the record is based on the franchise’s relocation to Oklahoma City in 2008 when it was renamed as the Thunder. The team was previously called the Seattle Supersonics which entered the NBA for the 1967-68 season. The Thunder/Supersonics record for three-pointers made is 18 set on February 22, 2004.

The previous Oklahoma City record was 16, set on January 29, 2014.

Meanwhile, George added another game to his streak of five or more three-pointers after knocking down six against the Grizzlies. NBA.com’s Advanced Stats shows that he is now on a five-game streak in which he has made at least five 3-pointers while setting the franchise record anew with today’s performance. He set the franchise record with a four-game streak Tuesday after making five three-pointers versus the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Only George McCloud has a longer streak with six games. Tying the record will have to wait as the 2018 NBA All-Star weekend is set for this week. The Thunder are headed to Sacramento to face the Kings on February 22 and George could conceivably make five or more three-pointers in that game once again.
