Oklahoma City Thunder players and staff will be administered coronavirus tests after potentially being exposed to the virus Wednesday prior to tipping off a game against the Utah Jazz, according to ESPN's Royce Young.
Thunder staffers and their players were advised to self-quarantine for a period of 24 hours to allow any potential viral infection to incubate and properly display in the test results. Many remained in hotels in Oklahoma City rather than going home.
Jazz center Rudy Gobert was the first to test positive for COVID-19, which kickstarted the league mandate to suspend the 2019-20 NBA season. However, Gobert was never inside Chesapeake Energy Arena, home of the Thunder. He didn't sit in a courtside seat or warm up prior to the game.
He was listed as questionable prior to the game and wound up remaining away from the team before their game against OKC.

Unlike Gobert, Mitchell was in the arena, warming up and set to play against the Thunder, even talking to players before the game.
He was at a local high school, Del Rey, the night before, getting in a private workout and taking pictures with kids. Gobert and the Jazz had also practiced at Emerson College before taking on the Boston Celtics last week.
The NBA is in a wait-and-see period, trying to determine the next steps. While they await the two weeks to pass before making further decisions, some, including Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, foresee it taking about 60 days before teams can resume play.
