The Orlando Magic have applied for two Disabled Player Exceptions — for Jonathan Isaac and Al-Farouq Aminu — with the NBA that would project season-ending losses, sources tell @TheAthleticNBA @Stadium.

As Charania notes, the exceptions would project that the Magic anticipates both Isaac — who sustained a bone contusion and severe sprain of his left knee — and Aminu — who underwent surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee — would miss the remainder of the season. While being granted the exception would not preclude both players from suiting up again in 2019-20, the move is a precautionary one in the case that neither is able to make it back before the end of the year, whenever that may be for a Magic team currently in possession of the No. 7 seed in the Eastern Conference.

He was seeing just below 30 minutes per night, especially having taken on an increased role for the Magic during the period where Nikola Vucevic and Aaron Gordon were absent due to respective ankle injuries.
Aminu was in his first season with the Magic after inking a three-year, $29 million deal during the summer. He came off the bench in 16 of his 18 appearances and was averaging a career-low 4.3 points per game as he scuffled to find his role with the team's second unit.
