Given all the athleticism and impressive skill sets of young players in the NBA today, it has turned many teams into must-watch groups as their style of play brings a lot of excitement to the fans. DeMarcus Cousins understands the trend, but he still believes that it’s not necessarily part of the formula for success of a team.
With the New Orleans Pelicans stuck in the middle of the Western Conference and finding it difficult to remain above .500, the three-time All-Star shared that he thinks consistency is what his team is still continuing to find. He also added, via William Guillory of NOLA.com, that he and his teammates should not see being a “boring” team as a problem as long as they continue winning.

The Pelicans currently have an 18-18 record and if they continue playing .500 basketball, should find themselves in a dog fight for one of the last playoff spots in the West. Although their goal has just been to make the postseason, it could still be seen as underachieving for them especially having one the best, if not the best, frontlines with DeMarcus Cousins and Anthony Davis. Their fans also expect more and want them to emerge as a title contender.
Being boring does not mean a team plays the wrong way — just look at the San Antonio Spurs. The players may just feel that as they will be sticking to the basics and keep things simple. However, if it will bring in more wins to the Pelicans, it definitely won’t be a bad idea if they start doing so in order to change their ways and improve their standing.
